Annica at MIDNIGHT.

Hello girls, it's Tuesday...barely. I’m posting this at midnight because I’m leaving on a trip to visit my relatives early on Tuesday morning and I have no idea whether I’ll have internet access.

I have a terrible memory when it comes to things that happened in my own life. I cannot remember what happened earlier this year. Well, I can, but I don’t remember when or details. I’ll manage, though!

I’m very glad that 2010 is ending. It hasn’t been the best year ever. I’m hoping that next year will be much better. I’ll make it be better. IT SHALL BE AMAZING.

Oooh, on a totally unrelated note, my best friend and I are starting a collab. channel together. It’s just going to be the two of us. Like the Vlogbrothers, but much less organised and things. If you want to watch our videos, check us out at http://www.youtube.com/user/missp3ll3d *shameless plug* Neither of us are very good vloggers at all, so if you do watch, you’ve been warned.

January

I love the lyrics to this song. That is all. Well, no, that’s not all. I like the song itself and I like Charlie and it has the Tardis and a Mario mushroom, but yeah. Lovely song and lovely lyrics.

February

I chose this video because it’s beautiful and because this is around the time when I truly started getting into wizard rock and nerdy music and things. Let’s Lumos! was the first wrock band that I listened to.

March

Watching meme week on 5AG was rather, well, interesting. And funny. I chose this video because I remember how my best friend had this song on her iPod and we would listen to it and move our hands in a leek spinning motion. That was before this video, but oh well. It’s a fun memory.

April

I like Lady Gaga, I like covers/remixes, and I like violins. Win-win-win.

May

I thought that this music video and song were adorable. Plus, it has Amy Pond. AMELIA POND!

June

This video does not represent what June was like at all for me. June was a miserable month. Two of my best friends (Venessa and Hyrum) both moved away in June. I simply chose this because I remember that I listened to it a lot during the summer and because who doesn’t love Emma Watson?

July

This video is lovely. I really like John’s Thoughts From Places videos. Videos are like this are one of the many reasons why I love Nerdfighteria.

August

I’ve linked to this video before. I think it was in my first NEA post. Anyway, I chose it because August was the month that we started this project and because I’m Tuesday! Yay!

September

I chose this video because September was the month I started high school, and while I knew many of these things, this video kind of reminds me of school. Stupid reason? Yes.

October

I chose this video because it really, really got me excited for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I’m not sure why. I don’t even like Rihanna or that song.

November

This is an amazing video. I’m sure that it must have taken loads of work. I picked it because November was the month that I began reading The Hunger Games trilogy. I really love the Hunger Games now. I’m currently reading Mockingjay. I was tempted to pick a Harry Potter video or a NaNoWriMo video, because those were the highlights of my November, but I think this one is a better fit.

December

I chose this video because I love wrock, I love MoM, and I love this song. When I was in the car on the way to see Deathly Hallows for the third time, I was playing this song and singing along. My poor parents raised a total nerd.

Jess describes HER 2010

...Which was completely different than she had expected. Amazingly different. But in a good way.

Hello girls, it's Monday! This week's theme might take a while, but I do believe that none of us have school this week, so hopefully that means that you will have some free time to think. This week, just like nearly every other collab on the interwebs, we'll be talking all about 2010 and how it's ending and blah blah blah. But we'll be describing it through videos.

Basically, choose one video to describe each of these past 12 months. You can write a little description underneath it to explain why you chose it, but you don't have to. There are some limitations, however:

1. The video that you choose for each month must have been uploaded during that month in 2010. For example, you can't pick ALL CAPS' The NaNoWriMo Song video to describe November, because it was uploaded in November of 2009.
2. None of the videos that you choose can be your own. You can, however, be in them. It just can't have been uploaded onto your channel.
3. You can't pick a video that one of the other girls have already picked. This rule is only really here to make things interesting and challenging. But, um, I guess that means that I have it extremely easy and Bridget's post could get difficult. Oh well.

That's pretty much it. Okay. Onto my choices!

January

I chose this video for obvious reasons. The birth of Henry Green was a huge moment in Nerdfighter History, and also the first part of Nerdfighter History that I got to experience in real time.

February

Kaleb's song immediately reminds me of this past February. It's amazingly catchy, and I still remember all of the words, 10 months later.

March

I don't know why it was so hard for me to pick a video for March. I mean, this is my birth month. I don't know. Anyway, it was tough choosing between this video and the one for Don't Unplug Me, but I do remember being surprised at how much I loved this video.

April

Another hard month to choose! The Oceanic Six's reaction songs kept me sane during April, so I picked my absolute favorite one that they did. (Next is HEY! DON'T TALK ABOUT BACON!)

May

While looking for a video for this month, I really started wondering if May ever even happened. I don't remember any videos really striking me during this month, or anything happening at all. So, I picked this video, because I remember being really sad about Luke leaving Echo Base.

June

Sons of Admirals! I was SO excited for them when this video first came out. Just, love <333

July

I HAD to pick this video. My first wrock show, and my first time being in a 5AG video. Exciting.

August

This was the easiest one. Rebecca's song made me cry for hours. Thanks to this song, I nearly lost it in science class when we talked about supernovas. I just... Esther <3

September

Hey! I'm not sucking up; I didn't just pick this video to be nice or to make sure that one of the girls' videos were chosen. When I think of September, this video LEGITIMATELY comes to mind. Edit: This video WAS originally uploaded in September, but then Winona switched channels and stuff.

October

Yay another concert! Woot! I'm in this one too, and I love this performance so much.

November

This video is lovely and amazing and gahhh. With all of the stress of NaNo going on, this video was the first time I laughed that month.

December

Yes, this is the shortest and stupidest video on my list. Get over it. Project 4 Awesome made my month, and the kittens were such an amazing part of the livestream.

And, that's it! It's the last week of 2010! Let's make it special, everyone! Annica, I'll read you tomorrow.

Bridget just wants to say... Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
and happy holidays ~ (:

The Tale of the Death Note

Hey guys!

So, now that I've stopped obsessing over college applications, youtube videos, and how attractive Patrick Swayze was in Dirty Dancing (v hotness below v), I'm ready to write a blog post!! (yayyyyyy)

But yes. Friends. Interestingly enough, I'm one of those people who talks to like EVERYONE. For real, if I was an animal, I'd be the social butterfly (btw, does anyone know why butterflies are supposed to be social? how did that saying come about anyway?) And really, I don't have any people I hate or anything like that - I mean, sure, there're a few that annoy me, but I just stay friendly and positive and don't hang around them so much

BUT! There is one friend whom I've known since I moved to mah current location, and her name's Alyssa. I remember in grade nine on my first day at my new school, I sat near her in the assembly. One girl I briefly met introduced us and we shook hands (like boring business people, I know..) Anyways, I saw her in one of my classes and around the school and she stuck out in my mind from the start for she was carrying....A DEATH NOTE!

Now, I was (and still am) quite into Japanese manga and anime, and Death Note is one of the best out there, so obviously my nerdy self spazzed like crazy on the inside, but as the new kid, it wasn't until the next class or so when I pumped up my confidence to say "hey, I noticed you have a Death Note" Since then, we've been best friends. She's hilarious, an amazing artist, super cool, random, but also serious. That's what I love most about her: we have the most random funny conversations and always have so much fun together, yet when one of us needs it, we can sit down and have a serious conversation. Oh, and we kinda act like philosophers sometimes - don't ask.

Although I have many close friends, Alyssa's the closest. My two other best friends, Kiray and Diane, live in my old town pretty far away. We share some great memories and I love 'em, but for this post, I'm just going to leave it at that.

So, I just want to wish you all a happy Christmas Eve Eve! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a merry Christmas and a happy New Year :D

P.S. Don`t worry, I have guy friends too. They`re just not the closest ones :P

P.P.S. I probably won`t be able to post next Thursday because I`m going to Cuba with my family and we`re not sure how much internet access there is at our hotel

P.P.P.S. OMG I`M GOING TO CUBA TOMORROW I`M SO FREAKING EXCITED ZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMG!!! XDDDD

That is all.

Winona is sorry!

Hey girls,
first of all: I want to apologize for not posting last week. I've been pretty busy and I had no time to blog, sorry.
This week's theme is FRIENDS and - surprise - I do have some.
My best friend Alena for example. We've know each other for three years now but we've become best friends over the past year. She's a lovely girl. I mean, of course she annoys the hell out of me some time but that happens in any friendship. We don't do a lot unfortunately, even though she lives in the street next to mine. But she's often so busy that she just doesn't find the time. Or she's just lazy sometimes. Whatever :)
I'm usually cool with everyone I meet, I have met so many people this year, it's unbelievable. I don't call every one of them a friend, but they're all awesome and very nice. I have another good friend, Lara. I'm not SO close to her but I can talk to her about everything! We've been friends since our class trip to London in February and she's, like, one of the funniest persons I have met so far! She's so nice and lovely.
I have many male friends, most of them are musicians and that's the reason I met most of them. At concerts, in school. They're all very nice and I always thought I couldn't talk to boys about a lot of things but when I talk to them we talk about EVERYTHING! I love that!

Have a nice christmas, girls :)

Annica has friends?

Today's post is probably going to be long.

Yay! Back to rambling!

So, I'm not going to bother you all by telling you what is going on in my life. I'm just on Winter Break. That's all.

Now, on to the theme!

Much like Jess, I have very few close friends. I get along with most people, however. Even the decepticons. I mean, I don't have any enemies. That's probably because I'm really quiet too.

My best friend is Venessa.

When we first met, I thought she was the coolest person ever. Little nine year old Annica admired her loads. I think I've told you this before... Maybe not. Anyway, I don't admire her so much anymore. She's awesome and I love her, of course, but I don't worship her or anything.

Venessa was the one who got me addicted to the internet. She likes anime, video games, dancing, being adorable and having every freaking boy like her, and bears. She moved to the other side of the country (Minnesota) this summer. ):

Natassja is best friend number two.

During our first year of friendship, I hated her. All she had to do was open her mouth and I'd want to smack her. She didn't realise how much she annoyed me, however. She thought that Venessa and I were totally awesome. She tended to copy the things that we did.

I don't hate her anymore, fortunately. Sometimes, she's still super annoying and I want to smack her, but what friends don't have those moments. Natassja is probably the most loyal friend that I have. Even when I am a total buttface to her, she still sticks around. I'm really grateful for that. Because I can really be a jerk.

Natassja really likes Japan (she used to live there), everything relating to Japan, stupid television shows (like Ugly Betty...ugh!), reading, and being friends with freaking everybody.

Hyrum plays the role of totally platonic boy best friend.

Like Jess and Kate, Hyrum and I totally don't agree politically. He is a total Republican who doesn't like gays or abortion or Obama and I'm a total Democrat who is pro-gay, pro-choice, and an Obama supporter. There are many other things we disagree on, too. MANY THINGS. Last year, I remember him saying something terrible about gays and me not talking to him for about a week. He still tried to talk to me because we sat next to each other in math and at lunch. Bless his heart.

He is probably one of the most funny and most clever people I know, however. So that makes up for our politically disagreements. He is one of the people who can make laugh no matter the mood I'm in.

He's the one I met up with at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows midnight premiere. He thinks that he knows more about Harry Potter than me. Psh. As if. Unfortunately, Hyrum lives a few towns over and I don't get to see him much.

Jess is SO HAPPY that it's almost time for winter break

...Siriusly. If you saw my math grades right now, you would probably ask, "Is that out of 50?" And I would say, "No. No it is not. I realize that a 48 out of 50 would make more sense for someone like me, but no. It is in fact out of 100. Sigh."

Sigh.

This past weekend was this whole frenzy of try to get organized, and I'm kind of still doing that. I need the break desperately.

This week's theme is kind of lame, but also kind of nice. This week, talk about your friends! IRL friends, not online friends. (I assume we all have at least one friend in real life.)

I'm the kind of person that has very few close friends, but is pretty much cool with everyone. There are some people that irk me to no end, but that is a very small number of people. Only two people that I can think of right away, actually.

Recently, I've really liked talking to my friend Kuppy (Her name is Kate. Kuppy is this inside joke-y thing from when we were, like, ten. Maybe eleven.) because we have completely different views on everything. Especially politics and religion. An actual conversation that happened at lunch today:

J: "Kuppy! Don't Ask, Don't Tell was repealed!"
K: "Ughhhh, I know!"
J: "Wait, why is that a bad thing?"
K: "It's an awful thing! Our brave soldiers shouldn't have to worry about someone flirting with them in the middle of a battle!"
J: "Kup, what about the women in the military?"
K: "That too! Why do they allow women in the military?! It's just WRONG!"
J: "Why?"
K: "Because, it is."
J: "Do you even hear yourself?"

Haha, I love her. Butnoseriously, we disagree on everything. Apparently, I'm slowly convincing her that gay people aren't EVIL AND OUT TO MOLEST THE ENTIRE PLANET, so that's positive. I love arguing with her about stuff, especially because I am normally right. (The only thing we can't seem to settle on is abortion. She's too held in her religious views for me to sway her at all.)

I've had two best friends for a while now, Shannon and Geneva. They're strange and nothing like me at all actually. That might be why I like them. I seek diversity IRL.

And Jess is tired and stressed and GAHHHH POLYNOMIALS WITH IMAGINARY NUMBERS WHY DO YOU EXIST?!

Bridget is singing a crazy little song!

Hey guys, sorry I didn't post last week but I was ate a 24 hour overnight fast for charity. Yes, I didn't eat for 24 hours. I was hungry. And I was sleeping at the school so I didn't have a computer. My bad.

Anyways, songs. Well, here's my top 10 at the moment (liable to change within the next 30 seconds):
1. A Song About Monkeys - Charlie McDonnell
2. Bread - Charlie McDonnell
3. No Speak Americano - YOLANDA BE COOL
4. Make Light - Passion Pit
5. 00 Gringo (Calling London) - Urban Delights
6. A-Punk - Vampire Weekend
7. The Time (The Dirty Bit) - Black Eyed Peas ((DON'T JUDGE ME))
8. Duet with Myself - Charlie McDonnell
9. Expiration Date - Pomplamoose
10. Soft Kitty - Sheldon Cooper

10 Brownie points if you get the last one. ;)

I would reply to posts but I have to go catch a flight to Mexico now. No, seriously, I'm headed to Mexico for Christmas! My next post will be from the beach. Jess, read you on Monday!

Annica's shortest post?

Hello girls, it's Tuesday!

I really don't know what to write about... Hm...

Well, this week has been better than the past few weeks. Except for the fact that I have to give TWO speeches tomorrow. Ugh.

What else, what else?
It's almost my two week break from school. That's cool...
Um...

Yeah, I really don't have much to say.
Jess, I'm looking forward to your themes. If you ever help coming up with them, then I can help. xD

Jess couldn't come up with a theme again? Really?

...Yeah.

But don't worry, the last two(!!) weeks of this year have themes already. Are they good themes? Maybe not. Well, I like the last one. Actually, if you have any theme suggestions for next week, include them in your post, because I will totally get rid of next week's if one of you come up with something better.

So. Yule Ball yesterday. oh. my. GAHHHHHHHHHHHH.

It was... GAHHHHH. Siriusly, I can't form coherent sentences about it.

The non-wrock bands were more amazing than I expected. I thought they would be strange and out of place, but they really weren't. They just had amazing shows. Getting to see JFF and Whompy for the second time was amazing, because I've become huge fans of them since the Roflcoptour show in July. I could go on, but I need to save some ideas for my blog post(s?) on it.

But, basically, this sums it up pretty nicely: I sang and danced (well, jumped up and down) to The Weapon literally two feet away from Paul DeGeorge while underneath a giant parachute made of random sewn together bedsheets. Yeah. I know.

The only bad thing about the Yule Ball was that the extreme awesomeness (or, probably the loud music) made me physically ill today. So, I'm sick, and that's why this post is so short.

Annica, I'll read you tomorrow! Yeah. Kbye.

WHY IS SANJA SO BUSYY?!?!

Hello Ladies..Yes, I know i've been terrible and i realize i missed last week and that this is coming to you early on BridgetDay. I just....forgot! It's basketball season and all our games and practices are really late so I don't get home from school till 8ish pm and then there's homework and i'm just so exhausted BLAHHH!!!!

Anyways...I`m not going to go over my internet history (which i missed last week) because it`s actually quite short. I started out with Neopets and eventually got facebook and msn and a youtube account and...yeah...

To answer Jess`s birthday question, my birthday was actually December 7th on AnnicaDay and it was pretty fun! I had a party with my closest friends last weekend on Saturday and it was overall just a happy day :)

As for this week`s theme, favourite song. I really don`t have an all-time favourite, and I don`t really have a list either because the music I like changes a lot with the mood I`m in. In general though, I`d say these are songs that I love and could listen to at any time:
1. Into Yesterday by Sugar Ray
2. Weightless by All Time Low
3. Summer of `09 by ALL CAPS
4. Can`t Say Goodbye by ALL CAPS
5. Georgia by Alex Day
6. Any/every Michael Jackson song
7. Any/every Beatles song

....

I just realized this list could go on forever...Whatever, that`s good enough for now! And no, this isn`t in any particular order :)

Anyways, I should go now because I`m interfering with Friday`s fun, so I`ll talk to you guys next Thursday!!

Bridget, can`t wait to read you ;)

Winona asks you to never ever ask her about music again!

Because otherwise she has to write blog entries longer than two pages.

Hello ladies,
it's Wednesday and that means it's my day!
Today was a really lazy Wednesday. I went to school and it snowed, like, ALOT, then I wrote a test and I think I might have failed it. And then, at 3pm, I left school and now I'm sitting here and typing this rather short blog post because I don't have much time today.
This week's theme is "your favourite song". Well, unfortunately, I am obsessed with music so I can't choose only one song. SORRY GIRLS!

So, here are my favourite songs at the moment (in no particular order)
  1. David Guetta feat. Rihanna - Who's That Chick (Afrojack Dub Remix)
  2. My Chemical Romance - Bulletproof Heart
  3. Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand
  4. Turn Left - When Autons Attack
  5. Melanie Thornton - Wonderful Dream (Christmas Is Coming)
  6. Linkin Park - Blackbirds
  7. The Parselmouths - The Day I Met A Snake
  8. The Beatles - The Fool On The Hill
Have a nice day, girls :)

Sanja, I'll read you tomorrow!

Annica is indecisive (what a surprise. . .)

Hello, ladies. It's Tuesday!

Guess what I did on Sunday?! I went to a Harry Potter exhibition in Seattle. It was lovely. They Sorted a few volunteers at the beginning. I was Sorted as a Slytherin. Then, they led us to the Hogwarts Express and said, "Welcome to Hogwarts". I nearly cried. Yep. I'm a baby. It was honestly very wonderful. I would live there if I could. Okay. Maybe that's a lie. It was still magnificent, though.

Anyway, on with the theme. I apologise for being annoying and choosing so many songs. I can't pick one favourite song! Blasphemy!

Annica's Favourite Songs as of December 7th, 2010 at around Five in the Evening (Subject to Change in the Next Two Minutes)
Dog Days are Over by Florence and the Machine
Wake Up by Arcade Fire
O' Children by Nick Cave
The Scientist by Coldplay
Dreams by the Butterbeer Experience
World News by Local Natives
Sleeping Sickness by City and Colour
Whatever You Like (cover) by Anya Marina
Outside World by Lauren Fairweather
Chasing Cars by Imogen Heap
Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars
Somewhere Over Such Great Heights, You're My Wonderful World by Edd Plant
1901 by Phoenix
Can't Back Down by Bad Rabbits
The Doctor is Dying by Chameleon Circuit
Wild World (cover) by Skins Cast

Well, now that I've posted pretty much my entire iPod rather than just one of my favourite songs, I'm going to go. . .

Song of the Day: lololol
Currently Reading: Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle

Jess nearly forgot to post today

...Weird. Because I had been planning out the next few weeks' themes for the past couple of days, so you would think that I would remember to actually post. Hmm.

Anyway! Hey girls, it's Monday!

This week's theme is short, and I'm happy about that, because I need to get to bed, y'know? So... It's favorite(faVOURite) song week! In your post, tell us what your favorite song is. And include a video if you want to/can.

So, my favorite song is Shortwave, Part 1 by Alan Lastufka and Luke Conard. It's the second track on their album Erase This. Not many people had said that they liked Shortwave, Part 1 when the album first came out, and that made me sad, because I still think it is brilliant.

Then Mike Lombardo covered it. And all was right in the world.

Above was Mike's cover of the song, which I also adore. The original is still my favorite, though.

In other news, I am extremely excited for Sunday, which is the day of the Yule Ball in Philadelphia. I don't believe that I've mentioned it on this blog, but I might have. You'll hear about that next week. (I get to meet Harry and the Potters! SQUEE!)

Short post is short? Yeah.

Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!

PS: Girls, please tell us your birthday in your post as well! I want to make sure that we don't miss anyone's. (Mine's March 24!)

Saturday, December 4, 2010

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TUESDAY!

Yay! It's Annica's birthday today!

I have no idea what else to say. But, yeah.

I'll say this again in my post on Monday, but I think everyone should tell their birthday, so that we don't miss it or something. Yeah.

Bridget's Internet History - Volume One

Let's just jump right in because this is going to be a hell of a long post.
I first got onto the internet with Neopets, which I still... play... maybe... sometimes... Don't mock me, okay? It's a fun game!

Anyways, from Neopets I went to other kind of kids game websites. I was never really into the social networking when I was reeeally young, because it didn't REALLY exist yet. However, when I moved from Texas my mom got me my first email address, polandgirl8 (because I was moving to Poland). I actually went and checked that a few days ago and I'm pretty sure that inbox is so full with spam that I'm personally slowing down Yahoo! servers.

Anyways, from there I didn't do much online other than look at funny pictures and play games. I first found Youtube through some sort of funny cat video but I didn't really start watching actual Youtubers until Shay Carl, and *shudder* Fred. I still adore Shay Carl, not so much Fred. I made a Piczo website (which were all the rage at my school) which inspired me to make my first actual website. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

I started to get more and more interested in the internet and created a blog which was http://therandomnesschronicles.blogspot.com . I became obsessed with blogging, and finally moved over to wordpress and bought my first domain name: pockymouse.com

From there, I started myself on becoming a interneter. I created a facebook, and a youtube and a new email with the same name: pockymouse. I wanted to make a name for myself. Looking back at my old Youtube and such now, I'm embarrassed. The videos had bad editing, bad footage and were just... bad. I wanted a fresh start and a clean slate and that was basically given to me when I realized that if I were to make any money using the name "pockymouse", a lawsuit could be filed because of the trademarked term "pocky". So, I make a whole new name, mouseinsneakers and started anew. I think my new videos and blog posts and much better, personally. ;)

Honestly (let's be honest), I didn't find the VlogBrothers until recently. I mean, I've watched them but never faithfully. My inner nerd really unleashed itself last year (the vests, legwarmers, and huge glasses popped out like a tornado and it started the torrent of awesome) and so end of last year I found the VlogBrothers and been watching (and reading John's books) ever since. However, I'm kicking myself now because two or so years ago John came to my school (when I was living in The Netherlands) and I DIDN'T KNOW WHO HE WAS SO I DIDN'T GO SEE HIM hfdksfhdkjadf. GIANT SQUID OF ANGER. Urgh, some day. (: VidCon next year, eh eh?

Okay, I've literally had to shorten this to about half because let's face it, I don't want to make you all read an essay. So I'll leave it there for now. Have a great weekend you all, and Jess I'll read you on Monday!

Winona's internet history, which is so interesting, you should put everything aside and read this.

I might've been about 10 when I made an account at MySpace. I added Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Amy Lee - celebrities I really loved. Months later I found out those were all fake accounts and desperately, I deleted my account and used my computer for Sims and homework only.
With 12 I made an account at MCRmy.com (fanclub of my favourite band, My Chemical Romance.) and got involved in the community there and I'm still involved in the fanclub today, only our site doesn't exist anymore. ;__; Then, I signed up on YouTube to subscribe to my favourite bands and look at funny videos.
With thirteen I got my first blog on blogspot, which was based on fashion, music, artsy stuff and myself. Well, like my blog today, only childish and pink. I had ... 2 readers, one was my friend Lina and the other one was some weird Japanese guy who always posted comments saying weird Japanese things. Because of that I deleted my blog soon, I was afraid of this guy. (Thinking back, I regret it, I posted really nice dresses and such.)
With fourteen I got a new blog, which is the one I have now. Meanwhile, I had signed up on Facebook and Twitter, made a new YouTube account (I don't vlog. I did it one time for you guys and let's all just keep quiet about some videos you might have seen of me on there.) and I recently made a Tumblr account, which I love. Tumblr is cute!
Oh, I just remembered I had a fansite when I was thirteen, it was dedicated to Mindless Self Indulgence. I typd lyk th4t b4cK th3n. (I typed like that back then.) I was a thirteen-year-old-scene-kid-hipster-mixture.
Well, how did you get into the vlogbrothers then?, you might ask yourself now. Don't worry, I'll tell you now: I've read my first Harry Potter book when I was 7 and since then I was really into it. I dressed up as Hermione for Halloween, I got a lot of Harry Potter merchandise from my mum and everytime a new book was released I went to my favourite book store around the corner (which is still here <3) and got the new book. Usually, I wore a dress full of HP batches and drew a scar on my forehead.
Well, looking for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood-Prince trailer last year I found Hank's "Accio Deathly Hallows" video and I was completely obsessed with the Vlogbrothers soon. Through them, I found the Nerdfighters community, which I thought I'd fit in quite well, regarding my obsession with comics, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, History, Music and Art. Well, I then asked for people interested in a collab channel, because I love blogging and uhm, well... you all know what happened (:

Sanja, I'll read you tomorrow.

Annica has been hit with a brick.

November 12th, 2005 is where my internet history begins. I was in fourth grade at the time. Actually, it might have begun a bit before that, but I’m not going to count playing games on the Disney Channel and Cartoon Network websites or my short time with Neopets. They don’t really count with me. I barely remember those. But in November of 2005, my best friend Venessa (who is still my best friend today!) and I were hanging out in a field during recess. She told me of a website her cousin had gotten her to join called GaiaOnline and how she wanted me to join it, too. Her username was foxylove. Mine was annicamax (still using that one all the time -___-). It was on Gaia that I made my beginnings and from where my internet life branched out to where it is today.

I remember asking my dad to join Gaia soon after Venessa told me about it. I lied and said that I was thirteen years old, though I was only nine. At the beginning, the most that I did was spam the forums for gold, talk to my IRL friends that lived two blocks away, and role play. Recently, I went back to look at my old posts on the forums and my old role plays. They really are atrocious. I did type much better than most people on Facebook today, however.

Here are some of said posts:

Between then and 2009, I never really moved out further. Gaia was always home base for me. I did make a MySpace (which I used to stalk people I went to school with) and accounts on some other websites, but they were almost always forgotten for Gaia. I continued to pretty much do the same things on Gaia: talk to my friends and role play (I did get much better, but I was still a total nerd).

In 2009, I began frequenting the General Discussion forum on Gaia. It is totally the ‘high school’ of the forums, if you will. Everything was about who had the best pictures in their signature and who was the funniest and all of that. From there, I saw a link to someone’s ‘tumblr’. I clicked on it, but it was just someone’s blog. It took a while before I was finally interested and made an account of my own in November.

Now, time to rewind a little to the summer of 2009. I remember going into my older brother’s room (to bother him, probably) and seeing him look at a book called “Paper Towns” on the Amazon. He told me that a friend had suggested it to him, and he read to me what it was about. I was vaguely interested. When I went with my dad to a really big, really awesome book store called Powell’s about a week later, I was looking around and around for a book to buy. In the young adult section, I found the book my brother had been looking at on the computer. Not knowing what else to buy, I snatched it up.

I read Paper Towns, and it was amazing. It had been a long time since I had read a book that good. I related a lot to Margo Roth Speigelman. It was hilarious as well. To this day, Paper Towns is still my favourite John Green novel. Anyway, I think that it was through Paper Towns that I found the vlogbrothers. Either that, or my brother showed me. I subscribed around the video ‘This Isn’t Hogwarts! A Harry Potter Song’, but I thought that it was just a couple of weird nerds. I didn’t fully unsubscribe until the video ‘Vegetables That Look Like Penises’. It was difficult to listen to these two guys talk. They talked fast and I had no idea what they were saying. There were a lot of inside jokes as well. I felt left out. I subscribed again around September (after I had read Looking for Alaska, I believe) and stayed. Through the vlogbrothers, I found channels such as the fiveawesomegirls (;____;) and nerimon and charlieissocoollike and the such.

Around the same time that I read Paper Towns for the first time, I went to go see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with my family. Harry Potter never really interested me. I had read the first book before and watched the films, but I just thought of it as most people do today. After seeing the sixth movie, however, I was intrigued. I went home and read the books while I went on a trip to go visit my relatives on a road trip. It was then I fell in love. I think that my sudden love for Harry Potter was one of the things that made me stay with the vlogbrothers and that whole community.

That’s pretty much the extent of it. Now, of course, I have made a Facebook, a Twitter, a blog, and everything, but those aren’t really interesting. I actually don’t even remember when I made a Facebook or Twitter or blog. :/

In other news, NaNoWriMo ends today. I really don't like what I wrote. It's terrible. That's how everyone feels, however. I'm sure of it. I am extremely proud of the fact that I finished, however! Well, I'm sure I will be proud once I get out of this odd feeling like I've been hit with a brick in the back of my head (lolz maureen johnson). Right now, everything is just weird. I think I've forgotten how to use words. I keep making really obvious spelling/grammar mistakes.

In other news, my birthday is this Saturday! Yay! I'll be 15! o:
I would fill you in with other things that have been going on in my life, but nothing interesting is really happening. *shrug*

EDIT:
Oh, wait! I do remember something I was going to say. I think that some of our lovely followers should COMMENT (if they want to, course). Tell us about your internet history! Tell us what you think about whatever hubbub we talk about! It would make my day if you did. :3

Jess's Internet History is Extensive

(Warning: Don’t start to read this until you have a lot of time to waste. Because, um, I ramble, and I also have a pretty long story to tell.)

Hey girls, it’s Monday! This week’s theme is to tell about our Internet History.

I know exactly when and where I started on the Internet. It was June 7, 2007 on Neopets. I used to love Neopets. Back in 2007, I still went to summer camp at my not-so-local YMCA. It was absolutely horrible. But one thing that made it alright was Neopets. Some fast food place (McDonalds? I don’t remember) gave away stuffed Neopets, and omg they were amazing. I still probably have some of them, actually. I’m sure if I actually had the energy to go look for one, I could find one.

Neopets couldn’t get me very far – it does have forums, but you can’t go on them until you are at least 13. This was before the time that I knew you could lie about when your birth year was. Sigh.

In September of 2007, I moved from my private Catholic school to public school. Everything changed – I actually had FRIENDS (!!!) – and I seemed to get on the Internet even more. In March of 2008, for my birthday, I got my laptop, which I unfortunately still have.

I found YouTube, originally just using it as everyone does (to watch stupid videos). I actually think I was a Fred fan for a while. *shudder* Meh, fifth grade was a strange year. However, after watching Camp Rock when it premiered, I found this video:

And Buck is pretty much my inspiration today. In 2008, he had an absolutely fabulous community on his BuckHollywood website. I discovered myself in the forums, making friends (none of which I still have, unfortunately) and enjoying really old music. GONNA FIND A RAAAAAIIIIINNNNBOW. FIND A RAAAAAIIIINNBOW. FIND A RAAAAAIIIINNNNBOW, IN THE SKYYYYYYYYY. Yeah.

As I started realizing YouTube’s potential, I became obsessed with the show Total Drama Island. Have any of you seen it? The original, not the seasons following it. I hate those (Total Drama Action and Total Drama World Tour, I believe) because they’ve made my favorite character (Gwen) really awful. I started watching the episodes when they premiered in America, but I was an impatient child. I went hunting for episodes online, and found that TDI was actually a Canadian show. Which meant that Canadians had already seen most of it, and had uploaded episodes onto YouTube. I devoured them, and soon found that TDI had a community of its own.

Now, confession: I was on YouTube when I was 11. I didn’t vlog or anything, but I had plenty of videos and a good number of subscribers, actually. But my content was absolutely atrocious. I became a fairly well known name in this really small community. This community took clips and/or pictures from Total Drama Island, and put them to music to create music videos. Yes, this music was highly copyrighted, as were the pictures and videos. I didn’t exactly know what copyright WAS then.

(Above is an example of pretty much what I did. Sigh.)

During this time, I also got onto Deviantart. I didn’t contribute any pictures or art, but I did find a bunch of really incredible artists which I sadly do not remember the names of. One thing that has stuck with me, though, was that everyone on there is REALLY NICE. Like, if someone thought that your drawing wasn’t that good, they wouldn’t say, “u suck,” they would say, “I like your use of color here! I think, to make it even better, you could…” That AMAZED ME.

By September of 2007, I was done doing my extremely copyrighted videos, but was still very much a part of the BuckHollywood community. Fast forward to the Summer of ’09.

K, so, ALL CAPS song aside, that summer was a pretty big deal to me. It was the first year ever that I didn’t have to go to camp – and I ended up being pretty bored as a result, but still. I got really into writing, and although I didn’t get much done, I discovered this competition that happens every year in November called National Novel Writing Month. Yeah.

So I kept NaNoWriMo in mind.

I helped a lot during the Mr. YouTube contest that Buck had, and was a leading force in getting KoolJeffrey to be near the top of the list. Shane Dawson ended up winning. It’s weird, because I remember back when Shane wasn’t even close to being at the top of YouTube. Also, I still laugh about Buck saying one time that Shane had the potential to make it big. He did.

Something else that has nothing to do with the Internet but is important none the less: The summer of 2009 was when I read the Harry Potter series for the first time.

November 2009 rolled around, and I started NaNoWriMo. I thought that 50k words in a month was insane (it is) so I started on YWP (because I was only 12 and couldn’t join the regular site anyway) with only a 15k word goal. I finished on time, even though my plot was way too complicated and got really annoying.

On the front page of the NaNoWriMo website, they posted this really cool video from YouTube. It was this music video that some little band had made. It was called the NaNoWriMo Song, and it gave me inspiration to finish my novel:

And thus, I discovered ALL CAPS. I am so, so grateful for whoever posted that video on the front page of NaNoWriMo, because without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. One, I wouldn’t be writing this blog post right now instead of doing my math homework. I still don’t think that I would be doing my homework, but you never know.

Kristina and Luke FASCINATED me. They were totally comfortable being weird, which was really strange, but in a good way. This video of Luke’s introduced me to Ministry of Magic, and wizard rock:

Through Kristina, I found fiveawesomegirls, and loved all of them. First starting out with Kristina, then Lauren, then Hayley. And OH MY GOD FIVEAWESOMEGIRLS IS DONE. SAD. FACE. SADFACE. I legitimately cried. The video that made me cry:

*sniffles* *continues with story*

On Twitter, I had already followed John Green before. I remember his picture was the cover of Paper Towns. Anyway, I really didn’t know who he was, except that he was some author. He always tweeted about things that I didn’t understand, like I was missing out on all of these inside jokes. So I unfollowed him.

I witnessed the 2009 Project For Awesome from the outside. Everyone that I followed on Twitter seemed to know about it.

Right before Project for Awesome, I watched this video:

And thought it was absolutely brilliant. That song SO describes December of 2009 for me. I always think it’s weird when people ask why the song is named Winter’s Song instead of “Your Own Ending,” or something. I’m always confused – I mean, how does it not just SCREAM Winter’s Song to them? One thing that really amazed me was the username of the person who uploaded the song. Alan, on YouTube as fallofautumndistro, had a username that I recognized. It’s a pretty long name. I realized that he was a mod on the BuckHollywood forums, which I had all but forgotten.

I didn’t watch a vlogbrothers video until late December. I’m not sure which one it was, because unlike so many other important YouTube things, I didn’t think that the video would change my life completely. But it did.

I could go on, but this is already a really long post. All you need to know is that I got much more into wizard rock and Nerdfighteria, and eventually joined the ning. I saw the creation of many collabs. And then, one day, I saw a thread asking for members for a Nerdfighter blog collab. And… Well, you four know what happened next.

Annica, I'll read you tomorrow.

Why does Bridget enjoy posting her posts late at night?

I really hope this doesn't post on Saturday, because it's STILL FRIDAY HERE! I PWOMISE! (Something tells me it'll say it's Saturday though)

Anywhoozle, I've had a very interesting week. First of all, it's snowed a foot and a bit in the last few days basically so I epic ROFL'd when I saw Annica's "snow day" picture. (:

I feel a bit disappointed in myself this November, as I didn't get my writing done, but at the same time I understand. It was harder than I thought to bring back all the memories of my beloved dog. I'm still writing it and all but I've realized that this isn't a novel I want to just spit out. How are you girlies doing?

We had parent teacher student conferences yesterday. Awkward, as usual. Don't get me wrong, the teachers like me. I'm just not good at these things, I don't know what to say. *shrug*

Well, I'm uber tired and excited for NEXT WEEKS THEME YAYA? 8D

....am I suffering from amnesia?? WOT?

Hey there!

So...I forgot it was Thursday...again...

Recently I've been major busy and last week I was staying up late studying and at some point I thought about NerdilyEverAfter and then proceeded to study some more. Next thing I know, it's Saturday and I didn't post anything!! GRAHHHH!!! It's quite sad, really.

Even worse is that I almost committed the same injustice to you ladies this week. I was literally just about to turn off my computer when I realized "WAIT A SECOND!! I'M FORGETTING SOMETHING!!".......then I remembered.....I'm like Neville, I need a remembrall dammit! And then I need a device that tells me what it is that I've actually forgotten...

d'awww! now wasn't he just adorable like the rest of 'em! Now you must forgive me!! ;P

Onto other randomness! Last weekend Harry Potter came out (DUH!) but the funny thing is that, while the whole world was watching HP, my family went out to see The Social Network. Although as a film itself, it wasn't particularly fascinating, the story was simply incredible! I learned so much about Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook, Harvard, even Napster! It was kinda crazy...On the other hand, WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE JUST SEEN HARRY POTTER?!?! Of course, the reason lies in the fact that my father doesn't quite appreciate the fantasy genre and falls asleep whilst watching these movies. So we went with his pick since we wanted to be able to truly enjoy HP without a snoring man beside us :P Jk, he doesn't really snore....much...
But yeah, must see SOON!

I also really wanna see that new movie with Cher and Christina Aguilera (I think I misspelt that..) called Burlesque.

And of course I am now in the really super excited birthday mode since December 7th - aka the best day ever - is nearing!! I've decided that for the party, I'm going to clear out a bunch of the furniture in our basement, lay down some mattresses, and have a movie/music/dance/slumber party - EXCITEMENT!!

hummm....is there anything else I wanna say right now?....

Oh, this week, I went on two different field trips for my law class - one to the provincial courts and one to a human rights conference thing. They were both pretty interesting but at the same time really scary!! I mean, at the provincial courts, the teacher told us that we could go into different courtrooms on different floors and all of us go "OMG! Let's go watch an assault trial! Let's watch a gang trial! I wonder if there's any rape trials!" We all thought it would be like the movies. And it is. We sat in different courtrooms, watching a witness speak of his experience at the defendant's brothel, and it feels like we're watching a TV show. And that's really really scary! This is REAL LIFE! These people that we're watching actually committed a serious crime and the decisions the judges make will actually change someone's life!! I dunno, I might've been the only one who felt this way, but really...freaky stuff...

Okay, well, I think that's enough of me for now. I don't wanna blurb on for too long so I better stop now that I'm already borderline boredom.

Bridget, can't wait to read ya tomorrow!

It's already Wednesday again?

I didn't know it was Wednesday again until I saw Annica posting yesterday. That is weird, really weird.
How are you girls? I hope you're all fine and happy and stuff (:
I went to see HP7 on Monday and I was amazed by the film. It felt awkward without Hogwarts and without Dumbledore *sniff* but I was amazed by the acting of the characters and the film itself. For me, it was the best HP movie of all that have already been released. Awesome.
I'm really tired as I am typing this, but I want to write this blog entry and another one for my personal blog as well and I hope I don't fall asleep.
I actually don't have a lot to say because there's not much happening except that I'm going to school tomorrow for two pointless lessons. My third lesson won't take place so yay but I wish that my first lesson wouldn't take place so I could sleep longer. I'm suffering from insomnia since last week, it's so crazy, I can't sleep anymore so I usually stay up at night and draw or read comics because I'm such a nerd.

Goodnight, lovelies.
Sanja, I'll read you tomorrow!

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Annica shows you a few pictures.

Hello girls, it's Tuesday!

I'm on a Thanksgiving holiday right now. Six day break! There was supposed to be school today, but it was canceled because there was a bit of snow during the night.

Yep. That's all the snow that we have and school is closed. Pathetic, isn't it?

Did all of you see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (part one)? It was amazing. It didn't feel like the rest of the Harry Potter films, without Hogwarts and everything, but I loved it. I went to go see it at midnight, and then with my friend again the next day.

I dressed up as Nymphadora Tonks when I saw it at midnight. Not many people dressed up, really. Most people just wore house scarves.

I dressed up in Harry Potter clothes all week before Thursday. It was fun. Well, until the end of the movie. I was depressed the entire next day because of what happened. Very nerdy and pathetic of me, but I cried a lot. Yay!

NaNoWriMo isn't going so well. I'm about 12 or 13 thousand words behind. Lucky I have this six-day break, right? I will finish it. I will, I will, I will. I don't care that I really hate this novel, I will finish it!

I'm not sure what else to say. Well, I hope you all have a great week! Jess, I hope you have a good Thanksgiving.

Now, it's time to get started on my novel. D;

Jess can actually write a full post this week

Hey girls, it's Monday!

I'm writing this in free period at school. I have to do a presentation in a few hours, and my group has no idea what we're going to say. I'm pretty good at public speaking, though, so I think it'll go fine.

This week, we were going to have a theme, but I decided that we shouldn't because this week could be potentially stressful, because of Thanksgiving (for the Americans, that is) and NaNoWriMo winding down (for those of us doing NaNo). So, next week's theme is to talk about your Internet history. What year (and age) did you really start going online? What caused you to start? What websites did you start with? How did you find the vlogbrothers and Nerdfighteria? Etc.

I have Granger Danger stuck in my head. It's a mix of this video:

and this one:

I watched so many Starkid videos this weekend, so that's probably why. I watched all of AVPM, and then I watched all of Me and My Dick. MAMD is AMAZING. If you haven't seen it, you need to. (Y'know, it might actually be my favorite musical ever)

xXxXxXxXxX

I wrote the upper section this morning, but this part is being written late at night.

The presentation went okay. I thought I sounded really nervous as I was talking, but everyone that I asked said that I didn't. And they weren't just being nice, because they criticized other parts of the presentation. Hmm. I'm so glad that this whole balloon thing is over... though, now that I've said that, they may actually make us do more. Sigh.

We have half days tomorrow and Wednesday, which is exciting. I have a lot of work to get done before December, and this will be a perfect time to get stuff done. Obviously, one of those things that I need to finish before December is my novel, which, surprisingly, is going swimmingly. I'm currently at 38,534 words, meaning that I'm ahead. If I keep at the rate that I'm on, according to NaNo, I'll be finished on November 29. Which is perfectly fine with me!

I don't know what else to say. Hmmm. Well, Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!

Edit: I just remembered what I wanted to say! I've had hiccups all day, and THEY AREN'T GOING AWAY. Most people hate hiccups, but I kind of like them. /weird

Alright. I'm going to bed.

Bridget takes a Vow of Silence... but can't get enough video games

Sorry this post is late again you guys (I'm not making this a habit, promise haha). It's just because yesterday I took a 24 hour vow of silence with a couple other friends to raise money for "Free the Children". Therefore, I wasn't allowed to type either. *shrug* I raised 120 bucks though!

ANYWAYS, let me get back to the theme that I chose: video games. Let me do my top ten first of all:

10. Animal Crossing
9. Legend of Zelda - Majora Mask
8. Fable
7. Pokemon Crystal
6. Final Fantasy XII
5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
4. Super Smash Brothers
3. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
2. Kingdom Hearts
1. Super Mario 3 or Pokemon Fire Red

Is it sad that I actually debated with myself for five minutes about this list? (Hint: the answer is yes).

I play a lot of video games, and I think that's because they're not only creative fun but challenging (well, some of them) and they're a great way to get away from it all. ((:

Reads of this wonderful blog, do you like video games? If so, what do you play? Also my gamertag, just in case: mouse-in-sneaker

As Jess hasn't mentioned a theme yet, I'm guessing we're having a break week from themes and just blogging. Fine with me if so. (:

Alrighty, well have a good rest of the weekend and Jess - I'll read you on Monday!

Wednesday doesn't rhyme with anything?!

Hey ladies,
it's Wednesday and I have just realized that there is no word that rhymes with Wednesday. If you find one let me know!

So.. hey, it's been quite a while since the last time I've posted and I could have actually wrote a blog post last week but I came home at 10pm and I was really tired, went shopping the whole day. Sorry!
How are you guys? I hope you're all fine.
My last week was amazing, London is beautiful. Don't know if one of you has already been there once, if not, you have to. It's wonderful!
This week's theme is games, okay, I see.
My favourite video games include:
1. The Valkyria Chronicles
2. Fallout 3
3. Gran Turismo
4. Guitar Hero
5. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
6. Pokemon
7. Super Mario Bros.

They're my favourite top 7 games. I'm not playing video games often though.
You guys are all doing NaNoWriMo and I can't. It's shit. But yeah. Next year... wow :(((

Wow, my life is being pretty good these days. Everything's fine, school's cool and my friends are awesome. We are planning for a party next month, it's going to be fantastic. I'm still single but I really don't mind. It will change some day (:
