Jess is surprising... occasionally

I chose this week's theme literally 15 seconds ago. Basically, explain some things about you that would surprise other people. Maybe just random people on the street. Or maybe people that actually (think they) know you well.

For me, right now, it's certain songs that I like. Most of my friends, and just people that I go to school with, know that I'm into these obscure, nerdy bands. ALL CAPS, Chameleon Circuit, etc. You know. But surprisingly, even to me, I kind of really like two pretty mainstream songs.

Blow by Ke$ha, and Touchin On My by 3oh!3.

I'm not quite sure what has gotten into me. It doesn't make any sense. That isn't my kind of music at all.

And because I just want to add another part to my post, I'm way more perverted than most people assume. Yeah.

Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!

Bridget is doing a quick morning post

Hey girlies! It's 7:37 AM and I'm doing a very quick post because I'm leaving half way through the school day to head across the province. Why you may ask? Because and few others and I are going to a conference on the conservation of water. Cool, eh?

Anyways, I have been following the news closely too and I am constantly thinking about the poor people trapped in these countries. I wish them the best and will keep them in my thoughts/make sure others know about the situations and are educated on the problems.

Song that represents how I feel right now: Older Brother - Pepper Rabbit & Liztomania - Phoenix

Annica needs a Doctor.

Hello, girls. It's Tuesday!

I apologise for not posting last week. I don't know why I didn't. I can't remember. D:

I just want to say that my thoughts and condolences go out to those in New Zealand, Australia, and Libya. I don't think that anybody that reads this is from any of those three places, but it doesn't matter. I sincerely hope that things start to become better where they are.

Small rant: What has happened to the news? What has happened to journalism? I haven't heard anything about Libya or New Zealand on any major news network so far. Isn't it their job to report what is happening? Nobody is talking about Libya or New Zealand! Not at school, not on the television, not anywhere! Isn't that what is important right now?

“We’re all human, aren’t we? Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving.” -J.K. Rowling (through Kingsley Shacklebolt in Harry Potter)

Well, that's enough ranting for now. On to the theme!

The two songs that have been stuck in my head lately are I Need a Doctor by Dr. Dre & Eminem and The Doctor is Dying by Chameleon Circuit (lulz, both of them say Doctor). The latter of the two songs is understandable, but I don't know why Eminem is stuck in my head. I like him all right, but rap/hip-hop isn't usually what I listen to. It's been stuck in my head since the Grammys! D;

Recently Played: My Heart - Paramore
Books Read: 5/52
Today is Awesome Because: I finished most of my homework at school. :D

Well, that's all for now! Winona, I'll read you tomorrow.

Jess is... like... yeah

Awkward titles ftw? Yes.

Today has been crazy. I've been closely following the insanity that is unfolding in Libya.

Also, my family is going through craziness right now, as I am being confirmed on Thursday. It's going to be awful. Not because of this, but guess what was revealed on Sunday? Okay, so you know how the Catholic church is always being criticized for their priests that rape young boys? Well, um, the bishop that is confirming me has been involved with that. He didn't rape anybody, but he DID cover up the fact that other priests did, and sent them to other churches so that no one got suspicious. And stuff. I'm bad at explaining things, but yeah.

No real theme this week. More of a question. What song is currently stuck in your head and/or describes your mood. Right now. At this very second.

For me, it's Walking Away by Eddplant.

Sorry for lame post today; things will be better next week! Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!

Bridget talks about the day of Love.

Love and commercialism. Either one.

But yes, as Sanja said I have a boyfriend and so Valentines was not only special in that sense, but special because this was our one year anniversary since our first date. (Technically our one year anniversary is March 8th!). Many of you may not know this, but my boyfriend lives in Holland (where I used to live) and I live in Canada. So yes, very long distance. It's hard, but it's worth it. He's my best friend (guy friend, hehe) and he's the type of guy that wakes me up in the morning with the Pokemon theme song. Yes, I wouldn't get out of bed and so he played the Pokemon theme song to motivate me.

For Valentines Day, it was hard for us to do anything super special because of the time change and the fact we're both in school. I had some great plans for him (including candy and a heart shaped sammich) however, they fell through. I did however buy him something special that I'm sending to him - and it sounds like he did the same for me. (: We skyped that day and talked about our first date (we went out shopping, saw Avatar, and I bought a giant Mario mushroom.) We talked about the future and this summer when we're going to see each other and more.

It's funny, it's crazy. It's stupid, it's fun. But all I know is that he is the one.

Jess, I'll read you on Monday. x Have a great weekend everyone!

It was Valentine's Day Monday?

Hey guys!

Funny story: almost forgot to post...again...I really need to get better at this blogging business! (Sorry!!)

Anyways, Valentine's Day: the one day of the year dedicated specifically to a celebration of love. Doesn't that sound romantic? Well it wasn't.

I don't know if it's just because I'm not in a couple or what, but Valentine's to me seemed like just another Monday. I woke up early, went to school, missed a basketball game because my parents decided to drive out to the opposite side of town, watched some online videos, and then went to bed. The only remotely Valentine-y thing that happened to me was that one of my friends gave me a teddy bear. His sister had gotten him one as a joke which he decided to pass to me as he was hurrying down the hallway to get to class. It didn't have anything to do with love and romance and all that, but the teddy is really cute :P

So...yeah...Nothing special. And during Valentine's Day itself, I've had quite a few people give me quite a few views on the day: anything from "an amazing way to encourage love and expression" to "why do we even need a day for love anyway? Don't we love enough every day?"
I, however, think that there is nothing wrong with a little bit of positive encouragement. I mean, sure, some people may build Valentine's up a bit more than necessary, but really, to me it will always be just another day. The thing is though that amazing things can happen in any day, and February 14th may just be the gentle nudge to get that party started - Comparison: it's like school dances. Even though they can be awkward at the start, you know that there's potential to have LOTS of fun, but usually taking that step from standing around chatting to having a blast takes at least one friend's nagging to let yourself loose and just start the party.

Guys, Valentine's Day is that friend.

Of course, Bridget has her beau so I can't wait to read what she was up to :)

Currently Reading: Civil Disobedience by Henry Thoreau
Today was Awesome because: 4 day weekend started off with a How I Met Your Mother marathon (MAJOR WIN! - and yes, I did the salute; be proud if you got that)

P.S. Considering it's extremely late at night where I am, please don't judge me if all that I wrote didn't make sense - I'm sorry but I need to sleep which means that this is not getting an edit read. G'night everyone :)

Wednesday hates Valentines Day!

Hello girls,
it's Wednesday and I'm typing this as I am trying to figure out how to use Google Chrome. I just installed it and it's still quite new to me.
This week's theme is Valentines Day and I have to admit that I dislike this day from the bottom of my heart!
In my opinion it's just a day that's been created for the flower sellers so they can make money!
If you love someone you can show them everyday, so you don't need an extra day for that.
So my Valentines Day was a day like any other and since it was a Monday it was an extremely annoying one.
I have a new timetable and I now have Chemistry, P.E., Math, Physics and Biology on ONE day. All five of my "favourite" subjects on one day. MEH. NOT. COOL.
On Friday I'll go to a concerts of my friend's band. It's gonna be awesome because they're really really good musicians. And on Sunday I'll see one of my favourite bands, A Day To Remember, live. GAH I LOVE MY LIFE.

Have a great day <3

I'll read you tomorrow, Sanja :)

Jess steals this week's theme

...From FiveTeenVloggers. Yeah. But anyway, it's a good idea.

This week's theme is Valentine's Day! I'm essentially just describing my day today, but all of you should just tell the rest of us how your Valentine's Day went!

Every year my school does this thing where they sell lollipops as a charity fundraiser. You can get two for a dollar. And then you can send it to someone with a message or something. It's always really stupid, because the popular people get sent, like, 30 of them, and no one really has the balls to send one to someone they like, so for most people, you only get them from your friends.

Except me.

Not because I don't have any friends. Or ones that would actually send me any. But I kind of reject the whole idea of this. SO I force my friends to not send me any.

This year's charity makes me really sad. This one family in our school district has had a son that has had cancer for a long time. He was really, really nice and only one year older than me. His younger sister is in my French class.

...But he died this weekend.

Everyone's just devastated. It's bringing me back to August 25 and the days following it, and that was just not a happy time. I'm really proud that our school actually managed to raise over $2000 for their family just through these sales.

Because of scheduling issues, they didn't give out the lollipops today, but I think they'll be given out on Wednesday. If you want to hear about how that goes and whether I got any despite my protests, check out my 5TV video later this week.

I could go on more, but I really don't care to and I'm tired. I seriously almost forgot to post this, too. I started writing it, then almost fell asleep without finishing/publishing it. Gahhh. I'm so out of it.

Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!

Bridget brings you an amusing pasta story

Because there is no theme this week, I've decided to tell you all a story. A story of microwaves and yelling and problems and pasta. Crappy but delicious boxed pasta.

So I need to explain the backstory before I tell you the ACTUAL story. I know, I know boring. But here's the short version: At my school, a lot of people use the microwave at the same time. Therefore, we set it to 99:99 every morning, so people can share it without having to keep changing the time and such - you just take your stuff out when it's done. I just moved here, but I was told that this is how it has always been.

 Okay, story time!

Alright so the other day I was late to lunch and therefore I was the last one using the microwave. My crappy but delicious boxed pasta was the only thing in there and the time was 13:49 minutes. The pasta has to be in there for about 3 and a half minutes, so as I waited I was talking to some friends. All of a sudden, SHOOOOSHO. (Erm, that was a really sharp whistle noise.) Yes, my principle whistles very loudly, shutting up the whole cafeteria. He then proceeds to yell "WHOSE FOOD IS THIS?"

Basically, even though they'd been doing for the last 5 years, he never noticed, and yelled me out for "leaving it in" for 13 minutes. I then proceeded to yell back. In front of the whoooole cafeteria.
x)

No, I did not get in trouble. On the contrary, I (later, in the hallway) got applause.

Annica is a REBEL who gets called to the PRINCIPAL.

Woah. Today is Tuesday. It doesn't feel like it.

Guess what happened at school today? O:
After first period, I got a note asking me to go visit the principal. Seeing as I'm not exactly the rebel type, I was rather confused. Sometimes I use my school computer account at home because my Mac doesn't have Microsoft Word, so I thought that they had found my NaNoWriMo novel or something, but I doubted it.

Anyway, I dutifully went to the principal and there were lots of other students there. He told us that we were nominated for an academic excellence award by one of our teachers! There is going to be a ceremony next Wednesday. I'll find out then which teacher nominated me. So, yeah, that was pretty darn cool!

On a completely different note, I haven't been reading much lately. I just can't seem to find a good book. Right now, I'm reading Time Traveler's Wife. It's all right. So, if you have any book suggestions, you should totally leave them in the comments!

*transition*

I've been watching a lot of Doctor Who lately. I'm almost caught up with all of the series now! I just have to finish season four. Donna isn't my favourite, but she is a lot better than she was in 'The Runaway Bride'. I can learn to love her.

Another television show I've been watching lately is Being Human. The US version, not the UK version. It's only had four episodes so far, but I am really enjoying it!

Oooh, ooh! Darren Criss is singing on Glee tonight. He made Glee so much better when he joined the cast. So. Much. Better.

JESS IS TIRED

Hey girls, it’s Monday!

I’ve been having major Internet problems since last night, so if you’re actually reading this, then that means that I could actually get something to work for a few minutes!

No theme this week, because I… am lazy. Yeah. I was going to come up with a better excuse, but… Yeah.

I’m really tired – probably because I actually stayed up and watched all of Glee last night. Which was totally awesome. So I have a lot of trouble actually THINKING right now, so this post shall come to you in a list:

1. I’ve been rereading Will Grayson, Will Grayson which is just as amazing as it was a few months ago, if not more amazing. Thanks to it, I’ve gotten an idea for a new book that I want to work on that I may tell you about later.

2. Speaking of books, my friend Maddie and I have to work on this partner book project thing, and we chose what is possibly the worst book ever to do this project on. It’s about ballet or something (neither of us are interested in ballet in any way) and is also organized really strangely. It looks like a bunch of poems. And it’s just really, really strange.

3. I have one more religion class, and that is it. For the rest of my LIFE.

4. Speaking of that book project, my friends Chris and Jack are reading Breaking Dawn for their project. This shall be hilarious. Neither of them have read any of the other Twilight books, though I’m pretty sure one of Chris’s girlfriends has dragged him to see one of the movies. Wait. That sounded like I was saying that he has multiple girlfriends at one time. No, he’s just stupid and breaks up with people a lot.

5. I haven’t really done any of my homework. I should, but I really don’t feel like it.

6. I’m tired and bored. Goodbye. Annica, I’ll read you tomorrow!

7. OH WAIT! Also, I almost forgot to even post this. Hehe.

Bridget is sorry about the late post, I was SICK AS A PUPPY

Hey girlies! Sorry about not posting, I was very, very sick. But I figured that today I should post, as I am feeling decent. (:

Favourite websites? Wow, that's an interesting one! Alright, well I use a browser called Opera (which I adore). It lets you have a speed dial of your top 9 websites for your homepage. On my speed dial are:

1. Facebook
2. Twitter
3. Youtube
4. Dailybooth
5. Wordpress
6. Digg
7. Nerdily Ever After
8. mouseinsneakers.com (:P)
9. Neopets

Probably the weirdest one on there would be Neopets. Yes, I'm still an avid player. I have friends on there and lots of fun! Plus the games are a blast. (:

Other than those websites, I like to go on Smackjeeves a lot. Smackjeeves is a webcomic website where you can read webcomics, post webcomics, and talk about... well, anything actually haha. It's really great and there are some really talented artists and stuff on there. You should check it out!

I think that's it...
OH! Before I go, not to self-advertise here, but I DID promise pictures and videos of the puppy I'm getting so...

Yeah you just died a little didn't you? ;) Also, if you want to see little Cooper (that's his name!) nomming on my finger and licking my face and whatnot, click here!

I really enjoyed everyones websites! I'm going to check them all out now, haha.
And Sanja - As for conversation lines, I enjoy the classic: Hey what's up? Haha, I'm really easy going. Try asking if he knows what the homework was, or if he's seen a certain movie that "you're thinking of going to see but you want some opinions". ;) Something casual and light always works!

Most Recent Song: Pepper Rabbit - Older Brother (and NOT just because of the Micky D's commercial, although that was very well done, for a fast food chain I HATE.)
Book: Calvin and Hobbes (The comic books :))
Most Recent Movie: Little Fockers

Jess, I'll read you on Monday! (:

Oh goodness gracious! (GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!)

Props if you've ever used that title phrase, although I realize I may be the only one :P

So, I've been having a little too much fun with your websites, and now that it's my turn, I don't know what to say! Needless to say, it was time for a trip to my internet history...

Apparently, I have spend the most time on facebook, youtube, and yahoo, but APART from these, I spend a significant amount of time on globaltv.com, deviantart.com, and random megavideos, so I'll do a mini rundown of my reasons for each of these now:

Facebook - Just when I had started to ween myself off of fb, I get a crush that I majorly need to chat with because he doesn't go to my school and I just met him! So...that's what's going on now...

YouTube - I'm not even going to explain this. If you don't understand, you are not living in the 21st century.

Yahoo - it's my email provider and literally, I ALWAYS have one email tab open along with everything else that I do. Otherwise...it just feels uncomfortable...

GlobalTV - they post full episodes of House, Lie to Me, and Glee (and other shows too, but these are the only ones I watch)

DeviantART - if you haven't heard, this is actually a really cool one where random people submit their artwork online and get feedback from peoples on the interwebzz. It's really cool what you can find there - from comics to realism to photography to abstract to everything else in every medium you could think of

Megavideo - It now comes to mind that I principally use the internet to watch tv shows. megavideo is my source for Skins (the British version of course - series 5 ep 2 up today!!), Big Bang Theory, and random movies and episodes...like Despicable Me in HD >:D

Well, that's it for today! I still have to finish studying for my 2 quizzes and a test tomorrow; plus, I have to head out for a basketball game in about an hour. Yeah, my life is cool 8D

Sorry for the boringness of my choices - if you take anything from that, let it be the DeviantART because i think you'd all enjoy that one very very much!

Bridget, I'll read you tomorrow :)

Btw, comment question I(and you) will probably regret: What are some good msn/skype/fb chat conversation openers for someone you don't yet know very well but would like to get to know better???

Anyways, I will actually stop now...See ya next Thursday! :D

P.S. If ever you're given the option of going to Vancouver Model United Nations...DO IT!! XD

It's just... I love fashion!

Hey girls, it's Wednesday and last week on Friday I got my school report card. I'm not too satisfied, it's okay, but I need to work harder next term!
I actually thought about this week's theme for hours and I was trying to find a great website you would all be interested in to share with you guys and I guess I failed!
Well, the website's called LOOKBOOK and it has a pretty simple concept. Girls (and guys!) can upload photos of their outfits to the sites and other people can rate it. And I get many inspirations by girls around the world and since I'm really interested in fashion this site is perfect for me and I visit it at least once a day (:

Sorry for this short post but I'm ill and should go to bed again now!
Have a great day, girls <3

I'll read you tomorrow, Sanja!

Annica mentions another HP site. Lulz.

Hello, ladies! It's Tuesday!~

Considering the fact that I waste so much of my freakin' time on the internet, you'd think that I would have an answer for this theme. I don't. The only websites that I could think of were ones that you all know.

I actually just barely thought of the website that I'm going to talk about. Barely. I mean, like twenty-three seconds ago.

It's called Dear Mr. Potter. It is a blog on Tumblr. I'm don't feel like explaining what it is, so I'm going to copy and paste from the website.

Dear Mr. Potter is a blog-based charity project that focuses on J.K. Rowling's life-changing Harry Potter series, and how it has impacted, inspired, and affected its fans. For nine months, Dear Mr. Potter has collected the sometimes funny, sometimes heart-wrenching, always incredible stories of the Harry Potter series' biggest fans through letters and photographs, among other mediums. Each submission tells a different a Potter fan's unique story and journey. The best of these submissions are being compiled into a 100% non-profit book, with the proceeds going entirely towards furthering youth literacy through the Harry Potter Alliance.

It is really interesting to look at all of the stories on this blog. It amazes me that one woman's work can bring all of these people together and affect all of these lives, how her fictional characters can inspire so many people, everything. This blog shows just how amazing Harry Potter. The fact that it's all going into a book that will support the Harry Potter Alliance just makes it so much better.

I submitted a piece of writing to the blog, but I am really not proud of it. I could have done much better. If you really want to read it, though (haha, as if), I'll just tell you one thing... my favourite characters are Fred and George. ;)

I recommend that you check it out! You might even want to buy the book when it comes out later this year!
