Why didn't Jess write this earlier?

(Also, how did she accidentally post it without writing anything?)

Questions. They are fascinating.

Anyways, hello girls, it's Monday! Kind of. Well, for most of you, anyway. Because I have about fifteen minutes left to write this. I'm not sure why I procrastinated for so long, because I chose the theme a while ago.

This week's theme is more of a question, really. What is your favorite website right now? I want something different, possibly something that none of us have ever heard of. YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc. do not count.

My favorite website right now is WrockBox.com. It's this online radio station, that plays wizard rock 24 hours a day. 'Tis amazing. It really just started, and they're creating this awesome morning show thingy. I'm excited, because unlike many other awesome sites, this one is most likely not blocked on my school's computers. I haven't gotten to check yet, but I will tomorrow.

On WrockBox, there's this thing that we regulars call the CrackBox, which is really just a discussion thing. But it's amazing. Yesterday (around this time, actually) there was request hour on there, and you could request whatever wrock song you wanted, and if they ahd it, they would play it. Lena from The Butterbeer Experience frequents the CrackBox.

One thing that is really cool about WrockBox is that they actually have commercials and "celebrities" just like regular radio stations. Y'know, like those stupid, "I'm [name] from [band name] and you're listening to [radio station]! [Possible stupid saying thing, like, 'Rock on!']" But they have wrockers saying it, therefore, it is amazing. And the commericals are awesomely relevant, and sometimes not even serious.

So I'm like really in love with this site. Yeah. Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!

Bridget talks about goals and such and things

So I'm watching The Hangover with four of my friends as I write this. (:
I just spent the whole day snowboarding. I'm getting pretty semi-good! I have all the basics and what not down, now I'm learning how to do cooler stops and such. It's really awesome and a great workout.
We're talking about goals this week? Sweet! I figure it's timed perfectly, as I just had mid-terms.

Do well in school/Get into college - This is just a general goal. I think it's pretty self explanatory. (:

Publish a book in the near future - Yes, I have multiple novels that have gone unedited. Hopefully someday soon I'll edit them up and finish them off. Maybe publish the best one.

Become a YouTube partner - Silly goal, but yes, yes. (:

Erm... this sounds weird, but I have a lot of other random goals. Not ones that really can be written down, but just... random goals.

URGH, this is what happens when I try and write a blog post at 11:25 AM and I'm watching The Hangover.

Alrighty, well I should go. I'm tired and can't write anything this late. Maybe I'll add an EDIT later tomorrow if I feel like it, but for now, I think this'll do. (:

Have an AWESOME weekend everyone, and I'll read you on Monday Jess! x

Decorum Delegates!!

Hey y'all!

What is goin' onnn??

I have a bit of an ambivalent feeling towards goal-setting. On the one hand, I do it every day: making lists of stuff I want to accomplish. And few things beat that feeling of accomplishment and success of checking off a task/goal on a "To Do" list. However, when someone asks me to put my long-term goals in words, I sort of shrivel up. It's just that so many things will change by the time I reach that "long-term" and although I love planning everything in the present and near future, I can't handle the idea of having my whole life planned out. Pretty much, I'm just weird.

But here are some of my goals for the next few months-ish:

Get a job - I recently applied for a part time job at my local Indigo book store, and I'm really hoping to get the job. Otherwise, I'll be applying elsewhere until I do get one, because university is coming up soon and I want to start saving up my own money.

Apply for (and hopefully win) Scholarships - again, because of post-secondary education costs, I need money. And if I can win a few scholarships, it'll really help out. Plus, I recently spent like 10 hours organizing all of the scholarships I hope to apply for and their deadlines and all of that jazz.

Get an A+ Average - This term, I'm trying to bump up my grades from A/A- to A+.....we'll see how that goes...

Start Making Sketch Videos - my best friend and I have been wanting to create a whole bunch of sketch videos and post 'em up on YouTube, but we haven't taken the time to actually do it. Well, I wanna change that.

Get fit - I'm actually really out of shape. Basketball season has helped a bit, but I'm still unfit and have a bit of an unhealthy lifestyle (too many chocolatey snack obsessions) so this is a really big goal for moi.

General Stuff - Read more, reread the HP series, stop being so obsessed with Minesweeper (the Microsoft game. Lol, check this parody out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHY8NKj3RKs ). I also wanna meet more people, hang out with different crowds, and really get to know my grad class. And...OMG I ALMOST BUT NOT REALLY FORGOT!

This weekend, I'm going to a Model United Nations Conference - Well, not just going actually, I'm the Assistant Director of the United Nations Environment Program committee!! I'm SUPER excited and can't wait (even though it involves waking up at 5:50am tomorrow). It's gonna be such a fun conference and I just can't wait - GRAHHH!!! Anyways, my goal is to make new friends there, facilitate meaningful discussion about environmental issues, and maybe even have one of my school's members win an award because that would be awesome (but of course is up to them to participate lots and be cool :P )

Anyways, Imma stop now because I really need to finish packing and prepping, so I'll talk to you next Thursday. And Bridget, I'll read ya tomorrow.

Today is awesome because: we won our super important basketball game against the school's traditional rivals >:D

Annica is A VERY HAPPY PERSON!

Hello, girls! It's Tuesday!

So, we're talking about goals. I don't have very ambitious ones, but whatever.

Short-term goal: Do well on final exams!~ I should actually be studying right now... D:

Long-term goal: Read 52 books!

Short-term goal: Edit NaNoWriMo '10.

Long-term goal: STOP BEING SO NEGATIVE. Whenever it's Tuesday, you are all probably thinking something like, "Oh gosh. This girl again. She needs to go be emo on her own blog. Ugh." Yeah, that needs to stop.

Long-term goal: Learn to sew.

Long-term goal: Practice instrument (piano or guitar...).

I'm not the best at goals. I find that after I make actual goals, I tend not to follow them. It's not whenever I tell anyone, but when I tell myself. That's another goal of mine, though. To stop being lazy and actual work toward my goals, I mean.

Jess, I feel your pain with the whole religious thing. Well, kind of... You see, I'm Mormon (lolwut), and I'm like the freak Mormon. I'm a Democrat and don't exactly believe in everything they do. At school, they all stare at me and this one boy is always telling me to go to the scripture class that is at six in the morning. And when they talk about things I don't agree with (i.e. anti-gay rights, tattoos, etc.), I just sit there uncomfortably because my opinions are completely different. Ugh. I'm rambling. On a different note, 5TV is really interesting and I'm enjoying watching it.

Winona, I'm more of a real book person. It's just something totally different to hold the book and be able to flip through the pages and, if it's from a library, be able to smell the old book smell. I'm sure that in the future, I'll get a e-book, though. I don't know. My dad has one, though.

Sanja, haha, thank you! My friend is obsessed with Death Note. Last summer, she made me watch the movies with her. I swear, all she does is watch anime. All she does. She wants to marry Lelouche Lamperouge from Code Geass.

Bridget, I'm taking exams right now, too. UGH SO MUCH STUDYING OMG.

Books Read: 3/52
Recent Song: Who Knows, Who Cares by Local Natives
Today is awesome, because: I got an A on my first final!

Welp, that was a short post, but I have to go study geometry and Romeo and Juliet, so...

Winona, I'll read you tomorrow!

Jess talks about GOALS

This week's theme: goals!

Talk about your long term goals... Short term goals... Anything that you are reaching towards accomplishing, really.

I am significantly less happy on Mondays than nearly every other day. This is not because I hate the concept of Mondays - quite the opposite, really - but because I hate that I am becoming an "official" Catholic. I swear, if I didn't take time to calm down before writing each of my posts here, everyone would just know me as the girl that rants about her religion.

In keeping up with the theme, my one huge goal is to get confirmed. I do not want to be confirmed. But basically, February 25, the day after my confirmation, will be the beginning of the rest of my life. I can't wait. Seriously.

It's really hard to hold back a rant. You should try it some time. (This one would've ranted on about how I hate discussing abortion when I have to pretend that I share the same views as the morons in my religion class. gahhhhh)

On a much happier note, I got my ukulele today! Did I even tell you that I was getting one? I don't remember. If I didn't... Well... I got one. Yay!

His name is Leif. I don't know why. I just think that it fits.

My goal is to learn how to play the uke, obviously. I'd actually love to post song covers on YouTube, and finally starting up that wizard rock band that I talked about this past summer.

Lastly, there's a goal that I've already past, but still would love to talk about: FiveTeenVloggers has past 100 subscribers!

...Which is outrageously amazing. This definitely confirms my suspicions: It is totally easier to get people interested in your YouTube channel than your blog. I'm not sure why this is, but it is true.

I wasn't going to bring this next part up on this blog, but I have a feeling that you would be helpful. On FiveTeenVloggers, we're doing this super secret thing with challenge suggestions...

...Actually, I think we're announcing what we're doing this week. Anyway.

...So we need challenge suggestions. Do any of you (girls or readers) have any cool challenge ideas that you would like to see done on a collab channel? It's much easier to come up with these things when you don't have the pressure on you to come up with them. If you have any ideas, suggest them in the suggestion module here.

Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!

Bridget is a BOOKMOUSE.

Not bookworm, bookMOUSE. (:

Yes, I like to read quite a bit - unfortunately I haven't been reading at all lately because I've been so busy with exams. NEXT WEEK! AHHH! *stress*
Anyways, I too am on the fence about this whole Book vs. Ebook thing. I think that having an actual, physical book is something special. The paper, the cover, the binding, the ink - it's all part of the story. However, the fact that you can put hundreds of books onto one device is AMAZING, and the fact that if everyone stopped buying books and started buy ebooks, a lot less trees would be cut down, that's a HUGE bonus too.

As I said, I'm on the fence. My Dad and I co-own a Kindle which he loves and I don't use much. (Only because the books I generally want to read aren't for sale on the Kindle). The reason why we bought one is because we travel and move a lot and carrying five or six books in your suitcase bogs you down and is a major pain. Having one little, thin device that can carry hundreds is really useful.

Well, it's time to go study. EXAMS CRY CRY! D; Wish me luck! x
Jess, I'll read you on Monday!

Come with me on an Adventure through Literature

Hey there everyone!

First off, I'd like to say kudos to Jess for the topic of the week. And also, I am super jealous that you got John's novella! You must tell us how it is once you finish!

Anyways, at first I wasn't sure what exactly to talk about. And as I was thinking about this, I looked over at my shelf and realized my perfect topic: favourite author. It's interesting 'cause I usually only read one or two books by the same author (except for series or trilogies or whatnot) and so I just have a bunch of randomness, but that's not true of Paulo Coelho's novels.

I don't know if you've ever heard of Paulo Coelho, but he's written: Veronika Decides to Die, 11 Minutes, Brida, The Pilgrimmage, The Alchemist, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, The Fifth Mountain, The Witch of Portobelo, and one or two others (the only ones I don't own and haven't read).

The interesting thing about his writing is that every novel is an exploration. In Veronika Decides to Die, the protagonist attempts suicide, is put into a mental hospital, and told she only has five days to live. However, throughout those five days, she undergoes a sort of transformation and finds the true joy in life. Under the title, Coelho writes "A Novel of Redemption" - and that's what it is. 11 Minutes, on the other hand, deals with the discovery of love. And the Pilgrimmage is about the discovery of oneself. And so on and so forth.

Furthermore, many of his novels have this magical element in them. You see, Coelho is actually Portuguese and I don't know the details, but he joined some kind of religion and took a pilgrimmage (thus, the story) and much of this religious study is to do with miracles that man can perform. A sort of magic in real life element. It's a very common feature in his books, which really intrigues me!

And of course, the style of writing really captures me from the get-go of every novel. I would DEFINITELY recommend checking his work out. I think my favourites are Veronika Decides to Die, The Alchemist, and By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, although I love 'em all :)

Wow. I'm sorry this is turning out to be a bit long...I'll just say two short things and then I promise I'll leave:
1. Annika, I read the Lovely Bones in grade 10 and it was NOT fun. Oh, and by the way, you're misspelled youtube thing is really cute - you're friend is just as awesome as you and OMG SHE HAS A DEATH NOTE POSTER AND KNOWS WHAT HETALIA IS (that's like 100 super points in my book)

2. And Winona, I'm kinda in the middle on the whole ebook vs. real book topic. On the one hand, nothing can beat that feeling of opening a book for the first time, and flipping the pages and all that, but on the other hand...making books uses a LOT of paper. Environmentally, it might be a good thing to move to the ebook and save forests...

Bridget, lookin' forward to your post!

BOOKS VS EBOOKS

Hey girls, it's another beautiful Wednesday. My name's Winona and this is my blog entry for this week.

Nicest beginning ever!
So, right. I've been pretty busy in the past weeks and I'll be very busy in the following months as well because I have my final exams of year 10 and I'm sooo nervous and excited and insecure about everything. There's one part in my exams where I'll have to do a powerpoint presentation with my friend Michelle IN ENGLISH. When we decided to do that we were like "Yeah, it's gonna be fine, no big deal, pfh, English is damn easy." and now we're almost crying thinking about this presentation. The topic we have chosen is the Cold War and the political views of John F. Kennedy and we're starting to prepare next week. Oh, next week by the way I'll get my school report for this term. I'm freakin' excited because I know how bad it's gonna be.
This week's theme is books and one thing I have been discussing with parents, friends and teachers lately was the replacement of books with eBooks. I hate it when I hear people saying they'd rather buy an eBook than a real book. A real book is something so totally different and a precious gift we should all receive and give in our life. So, I don't know, what's your view on BOOKS VS EBOOKS?
I am currently re-reading 30284 books, but not really. Actually only three. My three favourite books basically, which would be "The catcher in the rye", "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy" and "Looking for Alaska". "The Hitchhiker's Guide" is just sooo hilarious and if you've have only seen the film I recommend you to read the book, it's great! :)

So, enough for today's post.
Lovely theme, thank you Jess!

Can't wait to read your post tomorrow, Sanja!

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Annica bores you. As usual.

Hello girls! Today is Tuesday.

I'm still as boring as ever, so why don't we get right into the theme!

I am currently rereading Looking for Alaska. I think it's better this time around. I can relate to it more than I did when I read it a year and a half ago.

I attempted to read The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold today, but I couldn't. Shows like CSI freak me out, so I don't know why I thought I'd be able to read this book. In the near beginning, a cop calls the girl's family and says that they found an elbow. An elbow. I felt like throwing up for a while after that. It's a good book, but I don't think I'll finish it.

After Looking for Alaska, I think that I'm going to reread Twilight. Last time I read it, I actually liked it. So, it will be interesting to read it again now that I dislike it. My inner monologue will sound like the Alex Reads Twilight videos. Lulz.

Also, in English class, we're reading Romeo and Juliet. I don't think that quite counts as a "book", but whatever. I like it more than I thought I would, but I wish I could meet these two lovebirds and slap some sense into them. Come on, you two, get your freaking act together.

As for books I'm writing, I haven't touched my NaNoWriMo novel since November. I'm kind of afraid to. It is probably terrible. Ack. I'll edit it one day, though. Writing is editing, after all.

Books Read: 1/52
Last Song: You've Got the Love by Florence and the Machine
Today is Awesome Because: I have an easy finals schedule. :D

Welp, Winona, I'll read you tomorrow.

Jess is a Ravenclaw, she likes to read books...

I had no idea what I was going to title this post, but Will's House Song video is currently stuck in my head. So yeah. (By the way, Will is the Monday on my YouTube collab channel that you haven't subscribed to yet. But you should.)

This week's theme is kind of vague, but should give you some direction. This week, we're talking about books. It could be a book you're reading or writing or heard about or whatever. BOOKS.

Today, I was sent John Green's Zombie Apocalypse novella, Zombicorns:

And so far, it seems amazing. I couldn't get very far today, because I had to clean my room. But I sincerely doubt that it's going to be as bad as John keeps saying it is. I printed my copy out, and then spent a good 45 minutes sticking the pages together with this really strong smelling glue. I wasn't going to print it out, but I decided that I'm going to want to read it while I'm at school.

I was talking about this on my blog this weekend, but in case you haven't read about it already, I haven't written much since NaNoWriMo. I really want to go back to my NaNo novel and rewrite it completely. The beginning of it is really good, but the middle needs work and the ending is just a complete failure.

Oh! Here's something that has absolutely nothing to do with the theme!

I'm sure everyone has heard about the shooting in Tucson, Arizona by now. Well, apparently, my mom is really good friends with one of the guys that got shot there. Don't worry; he's fine. He just got shot in the arm, nothing really serious. But my mom didn't even know that he was there until today. The fact that I have a connection at all to the shooting amazes me - it reminds me how everyone in the world is connected in some way, even if we don't realize it.

Jess gets thoughtful at the end, and doesn't know how to finish this. So... Erm...

Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!

The TOP 10 things that a Nerdfighter should own... in Bridget's opinion.

Yes, when I made this challenge, I probably should have said that this is more of a game/joke than anything. You don't have to own everything here, it's more like a list of cool nerdy things. (: ANYWAYS.

10. The Geeks Guide to World Domination - We all need this book.
9.  A "dorky" piece of clothing - C'mon, you know you have at least ONE!
8. A Youtube account - This is obvious.
7. An obsession with something - Harry Potter, Pokemon, Doctor Who, The Hunger Games, etc.
6. Read/Have John Green's books - Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, and An Abundance of Katherines
5. DFTBA music - Any or all.
4. Some sort of fan objects/toys - I own a lot of Pokemon and Mario related things. x)
3. The ability to quote things from said fandom - "My name is Tom... Ato! Well, I'm Anne... Chovy! I'm                                                                                      Caeser Salad!"
2. A Nerdfighter Ning Account - Yay!
1. (I'm stealing Jess's) An open mind. - Nerdfighters should be decreasing world suck here. And this helps.

Yay! I loved reading what you all had to write.
Jess, I'll read you on Monday! x

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Watch Out. You are about to experience a cheese-fest o.o

So, first thing I have to say is "wow." Your guys' standards for what a nerdfighter should own are very specific, and I don't actually fit into most of those categories. To me, being a nerdfighter is a much more general and abstract classification, so it's interesting reading all of your opinions. Anyways, without further ado, here's my list:

1. Nerdfighters Ning Account. (Seriously, girls, none of you mentioned this?)
2. YouTube account (subscribed to the vlogbrothers of course!)
3. A fandom and merch. from that fandom - be it HP, Dr. Who, Hunger Games, Pokemon, or anything really, every nerdfighter needs one
4. A passion - there are so many different types of nerds (science, drama, anime, math, art, literature, and a mixture of randomness) and the thing that ties them all together is their love for whatever it is that they do
5. Desires, attempts, and successes in decreasing world suck
6. At least one DFTBA/Trock/Wrock album
7. One of John's books - or at least to have read one or all of 'em
8. A happy dance
9. A tendency to head desk when something goes wrong
10. The basics - a body, soul, typing abilities, knowledge, etc. etc. etc.

So...yeah. I realize that was half ultra cheesy and kinda bordering on the whole concept of "owning" so I'm sorry if I totally butchered your theme, Bridget. (I didn't mean to, I swear D: ) I just thought this was the best way I could describe what being a nerdfighter means to me :P

But...chyeah...I'm going to get back to my homework for now.

Bridget, I can't wait to hear your own list tomorrow!

Winona can't think of ten things!

Hey girls,
so, I was writing the list of ten things a Nerdfighter should own and then... well, wait...
  1. Some kind of book series. For example Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games etc.
  2. Nerdy clothes like DFTBA or Nintendo shirts.
  3. Comics!!!!! Batman, Watchmen, anything by Grant Morrison is great stuff!
  4. An MP3 Player full of Wrock, Trock, soundtracks and DFTBA records.
  5. Movie merchandise! For example a Harry Potter scarf. (I GOT MINE ON MONDAY! Slytherin ftw!)
  6. John Green books. Of course!
  7. ...
IT HAPPENED! I actually have no idea what else a Nerdfighter should own! But your suggestions are all great, I'm just sad I can't get a "This star won't go out" bracelet :/ (not allowed to buy on the internet, meh.)

My favourite animated film might be "Finding Nemo" because it was friggin' cute and I had the DVD and the Playstation game and I just loved this movie and forced my mum to watch it with me so many times!

I hope you have a great week girls! :)
Sanja, I'll read you tomorrow!

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Annica doesn't even own all of this.

Hello, girls! Today is Tuesday.

Let's get straight into the theme!

TEN THINGS A NERDFIGHTER MUST OWN (in Annica's opinion)

10. This Star Won't Go Out bracelet Number ten because Jess mentioned it.
9. A nerdy replica. For example, I own Lucius Malfoy's walking stick, Hermione's wand, The Journal of Impossible Things, and the Master's ring.
8. A nerdy shirt. Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Nintendo, Wrock, or whatever your fandom may be, you should have a shirt.
7. A DFTBA Records or Wrock album

6. A happy dance Does this even count?
5. Geektastic
4. At least one of The Hunger Games books
3. A subscription to the VlogBrothers I don't know if this counts either... Whatever. I'm running out of ideas.
2. All three of John Green's novels
1. A DFTBA shirt!

Sanja, you asked what our favourite animated film was. This question is too difficult! There are so many. My mom is kind of a Disney freak. She even has a room full of Mickey things. Therefore, as you can imagine, Disney was a large part of my childhood. Some of the films I do enjoy, though, are Aladdin, The Aristocats, WALL-E, A Bug's Life, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, and How to Train Your Dragon.

Books Read: 0/52

Today is awesome because: of my Ravenclaw shirt!

Jess does a short post

...Mainly because I am a lazy person.

But, I like this theme a lot. Okay:

10. At least 1 song from DFTBA Records.
9. I'm not even sure if this counts as a thing, but, like, a YouTube channel.
8. An instrument of some sort. Maybe it's a ukulele. Or a melodica. Or, that plastic recorder that you got years ago but you still have. Guitars and pianos too, I s'pose.
7. Memorabilia from some sort of nerdy thing. Doctor Who? Harry Potter? Star Wars? I don't know.
6. Looking for Alaska.
5. PIZZA JOHN SHIRT. YESS.
4. Paper Towns.
3. At least 1 Harry Potter book. I realize that not all nerdfighters have to like HP... But let's be honest here, yeah they do.
2. This Star Won't Go Out Bracelet.
1. An open mind. One that's able and willing to see other perspectives, and open to learning about things that you never thought you cared about.

Cheesiness ftw? Yes.

I really should write more. I promise that next week's post will be longer, mainly because I have the day off from school.

Annica, I'll see you tomorrow!

Bridget says HI INTERNET LONG TIME NO SEE

WELL HAI THAR.
So, how to start. First of all, very sorry I've missed a couple posts. I was in oh so lovely Mexico, but the internet was NOT oh so lovely. Actually, the only thing that really worked wonderfully was Neopets, so I was on there 24/7. x)

Anyways, Christmas was fun. It was spent in Mexico (as was New Years) and was pretty relaxed. I was given a sweet external hard drive, a few games, Final Cut Express, and other random stuff. New Years was great. Filled with screaming and champagne and fireworks and fhsakjdfh. It was a blur, but awesome. (:

So, instead of writing a lot about nothing - I'm going to write a little about something. THAT SOMETHING BEING NEXT WEEKS THEME!
WHAAAT? Bridget, you're choosing the theme?! I thought Jess did that! Well, I hope I'm not stepping on Jess's toes here but I thought she might want a break from theme choosingness. AND SO HERE IS THE THEME. WHY AM I WRITING IN CAPS SO MUCH I'M SORRY.

I want you to write me an article about the TOP TEN things a nerdfighter must own. It can be anything from a certain book, to a certain movie, a certain t-shirt, etc.

HAVE FUN YUS YUS.

And so, I now must go and eat seven layer dip. Have an awesome weekend and Jess, I'll read you on Monday! (I promise my next post will be longer, haha).

P.S GO SUBSCRIBE TO JESS'S NEW COLLAB CHANNEL THEY'RE AWESOME AND STUFF AND THINGS AND YEAH BYE.

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Hey girls, it's Thursday...I think. Ever since school started on a Tuesday this week, my whole mental clock has been out of tune. So I hope this is the right date, or else I'm going to be very very upset if tomorrow's not Friday.

So, it's the new year. Woop dee doo. Honestly, I didn't really feel the whole hype this new years. I think it's 'cause I've been spending such a long time trying to plan my post-graduation future, so in a way, I was already living in 2011. But still. It's exciting, if you ignore the fact that I've been sick since last week Wednesday (Guess who didn't get to enjoy the Cuban beach because of her fever of 38/9 celsius last week?)
Jeez, I'm really negative right now. I guess that's what sleep deprivation does to ya.

In other news, I've decided that I want to get a job. That's my resolution. I just feel like I'm going to have to start earning some cash, and it'd be better to start saving up ASAP. The only problem is that I don't really know where to start with the whole job hunting thing, so I figure I'll maybe cruise the local newspaper and check out if any stores are hiring at the mall for now. Do any of you ladies have a job? Any advice?

Apart from that, I just started getting really into this British show called Misfits. The only way I can really describe it is that it's sort of like the show Skins with a bit of Doctor Who paranormal activity. Pretty much, there's this big wacky storm and so a bunch of people get weird powers including the main characters, a group of teens on parole doing community service. It's really random and really strange but quite entertaining. Oh, and if you haven't checked out Skins or Doctor Who, I'd recommend 'em both. I will warn you, Skins is a little sketchy and pretty dark, so...you know....viewer discretion advised and all that.

What else do I feel like saying right now?? Hmmmmmmmmmmm. You know what, I think I'll end here with a question for all of you (just like the beginning days).
What is your favourite animated movie of all time?
A few days ago, I saw Wall-E for the first time, which was just BRILLIANT. Pixar just continues to amaze me with each of their projects, and of course the Disney classics are da bomb. Nonetheless, I think my all time favourite animated film would have to be The Road to El Dorado.

My best friend and I had A LOT of fun with that movie so it's the memories that make it the best, although Lion King and Mulan are also up there. Actually, there's a lot of movies "up there".

But I will stop there. So, I wish you all the best year ever in 2011! Can't wait to hear your favourite animated movie, and I will talk to y'all next week :D

Read ya tomorrow, Bridget!~

Annica wishes you a happy 2011.

Hello, girls. It's the first Tuesday of 2011!

I never know what to blog about when we don't have themes. I guess that's a sign that my life is boring. That's actually one of my New Year's resolutions... to spend less time wasting time. It hasn't gone that well so far.

School is going to be real stressful this month. I have to raise my grade in English to an A (an A- isn't good enough!), all of my teachers are going to pushing us so they can finish all that they planned to by the end of the semester, and we have finals. This is my first time ever taking finals, and while I'm sure that I'll do fine, I won't forgive myself if my finals lower my grade in any classes. I cannot stand to see anything other that straight As. Ugh. I hate it. Though, I think that I don't have to take finals in one class. That will be AWESOME.

My step-mom is Chilean. I mean, she lived in Chile until about 12 years ago. So, obviously, she stills stays in contact with all of her relatives down there. Because of this, and the fact that she is one of the only ones in the family who moved to America, most of her relatives that visit America stay with us. Right now, there is a boy named David who is going to stay with us for a few months. I actually have no idea how he is related to my step-mom, but oh well. So, there is a Chilean boy that I just met downstairs right now. This might be interesting.

I'm still watching Doctor Who right now. I'm slow, so I just barely finished the first series. I actually really liked Christopher Eccleston. He was a good Doctor. But, I'm sure David Tennant will be amazing as well.

For New Years, I was down in Utah. We went down to my great-grandmother's funeral. I had spent all of my time on the plane and driving down to the middle of nowhere reading Mockingjay. That was not the greatest choice. I was, quite frankly, freaking out. We spent a few more days in Utah because nearly all of my dad's side of the family lives down there. Utah is rather empty. There is a lot of farmland and large spaces in between towns, which is not something that I'm used to. It takes about thirty minutes to drive from where my grandparents live to a "city" that is smaller than the town that I live in. It is also known for having so many freaking Mormons and being quite conservative. I used to live there until we moved when I was still too young to remember. I love my family and everything, but I'm so glad that I moved. I can't imagine what life would be like if we had stayed.

So, that's about it. I didn't go to school today, so I better go off and do my homework. Ugh.

Jess almost forgot about her obligation to blog here today

It's not that I forgot it was Monday. My whole day has been revolving around the fact that it is Monday, January 3, but when planning my (horrendously packed) schedule, I did not leave time to write this post.

But I have a short break right now, so I can write.

How are all of you? How's 2011 been treating you?

This week doesn't really have a theme. I was going to go the stupid and expected route by saying that we all should tell about our New Year's Resolutions, but no. It's kind of a theme-less week. But, I'd love to hear just life updates. How's your life going right now?

Mine is unbelievably stressful. One of the biggest projects of the year is due on Wednesday, but I have to finish it tonight because I won't have my computer at my dad's house. Even though I didn't believe my teacher when she first told me, I now realize that the project category that I chose is indeed the most difficult. I'm doing a documentary on the censorship of books in schools. And while fascinating, this project is taking FOREVER to get done.

In my Music class we have to do a musical performance. Basically, we have to sing (or play) a song in front of the class. I have a really small class (only eight people) so singing in front of others won't be a problem. The song that I chose is Boxcar Blood by Alan Lastufka and Luke Conard. I really need to practice it. I never would've considered singing that song before, but for some reason it seemed like a good idea, so I chose it. My friend Will, who I didn't know was a nerdfighter before I started Music with him, is singing Legends of Archery by Driftless Pony Club. I'm performing last, he's performing first. So, yeah, my class's performances are a DFTBA sandwich :)

In addition to my history project, this week is also stressful because it is course selection week. In years past, this week was never a huge deal, because it was always just a choice between whether or not you wanted to be in the Gifted versions of classes. But because I'm going to the high school next year, it is insane. My high school is absolutely huge, and the size of a small university. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to a meeting where teachers explain all of the different courses that we can take. It will take TWO HOURS. Then we'll get a packet with all of the different courses on them, with some very small descriptions. These packets are over 100 pages long. YEAH.

So, Jessland is Stressland right now.

(Oh, and I also got chosen to be part of a YouTube collab channel called FiveTeenVloggers. You should check us out.)

Annica, I'll read you tomorrow!
